Hi! I’m Abby. Thanks for stopping by my blog!
I’ve loved writing for as long as I can remember. When I was very young, I even wrote “books” on construction paper and bound them together with yarn. I always wanted to be an author. That’s a dream I still pursue as I write my first YA fiction series.
As I really began pursuing my craft, I found out pretty quickly that I had trouble finishing projects. Beginnings and endings were easy, but getting from one to the other was hard. So, I took to the internet and devoured everything I could find on writing a novel.
Blogs suddenly became my writing lifelines. Before I knew it, I was moving steadily along with my first book. For the first time in my life, this panster had a real plan.
But my fingers started itching to write. My heart just couldn’t bear any more planning (no matter how necessary I knew it was). So, I reached for alternative creative outlets.
I started writing about writing. Sounds silly, doesn’t it? But I discovered that I knew a lot about the subject––specifically, how to plan a novel when you like to write by the seat of your pants. Forcing myself to do the exercises, research ideas, and push through the planning process had taught me so many tactics to get through the hard stuff.
And writing about those methods? It showed me how much I knew. More than that, it showed me all the tactics I knew about that I wasn’t using to their full potential.
That’s my goal here at Indigo Typewriter: to help other writers who struggle with planning get out of the muck and finish. that. novel.
When I’m not writing, you can find me doing a lot of things:
- going on crazy dates with my husband, Jared
- obsessing over the latest productivity app (it’s an addiction!)
- hunting the next big find in local thrift stores
- reading a novel
- taking a long stroll with my head in the clouds
- begging my single succulent to stay alive so I can finally be rid of my black thumb
I’m so glad you’re here, and I can’t wait to see where this adventure takes us!
